Former WWE performer David Otunga is open to returning to professional wrestling, potentially in a non-wrestling capacity, he revealed in a video posted to his YouTube channel. While acknowledging a lengthy absence from the ring – his last official match was a 2015 contest against R-Truth – Otunga indicated he would consider offers from any promotion, including WWE and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
However, Otunga expressed a stronger interest in a role similar to Paul Heyman, serving as a manager and legal advocate for a wrestler who might benefit from assistance with promotional function. “Kind of like a Paul Heyman, but as a lawyer – a legal advocate – and, you understand, maybe pair me with a talent who isn’t so great on the mic and then I could do the promo work for him,” he stated. He clarified he would still be willing to participate physically in the ring if a storyline demanded it.
Otunga also suggested he would be interested in a General Manager position, specifically with WWE’s NXT brand. He highlighted his early involvement with the developmental territory, noting he was a participant in the inaugural season of NXT, finishing as runner-up to Wade Barrett. “I kind of started NXT. Consider about it. I was there for the inaugural season that launched NXT,” Otunga said. “I was runner up in the first season, and should’ve been the winner, but you know, Wade [Barrett] was a great choice. I would absolutely seize that role; I think that would be fun, yeah. It’s kind of cool, a little full-circle moment.”
WWE’s programming currently includes Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, with Premium Live Events (PLEs) such as WrestleMania being key events, according to the official WWE website. Recent SmackDown results from February 20, 2026, saw Randy Orton defeated by Aleister Black following interference from Drew McIntyre, while Trick Williams and Kiana James both qualified for the Elimination Chamber match. Liv Morgan, the Women’s Royal Rumble winner, is scheduled to announce her WrestleMania decision on Monday.
