Comedian Dave Hughes has revealed he tested negative for a severe type of cancer after undergoing surgery to remove additional skin lesions, just five months after having five cancerous growths excised, nine.com.au reported.

The 55-year-old broadcaster shared details of his latest health scare in an Instagram video posted on Thursday, filmed outside the Masada Private Hospital in St Kilda. Hughes explained that he had recently had a couple of skin cancers cut out and faced a tense two-hour wait to learn whether the tissue involved a more aggressive form of the disease.

The recent procedure follows a significant health update in May 2026, when Hughes posted a video showing himself shirtless with bandages covering his chest, back, and both arms. At the time, he joked about having 45 stitches between friends while preparing to drive two and a half hours to perform on his stand-up tour in Cowes, Victoria.

The comedian’s family history includes multiple battles with the disease. His mother, Carmel, died from breast cancer in 2023 following a long illness, and his father, Des, passed away from prostate cancer in 2010.
