Egypt Begins Reactor Installation at Dabaa Nuclear power Plant, Strengthening Ties with Russia
Dabaa, Egypt – Egypt marked a notable milestone in its nuclear program on Wednesday with the commencement of reactor pressure vessel installation at the Dabaa Nuclear Power plant. The event, celebrated via video link with Russian President Vladimir Putin, was hailed by egyptian President Abdel fattah Al-Sisi as “a new and luminous chapter” and a testament to the strong strategic partnership between Cairo and Moscow.

President Putin echoed these sentiments, praising the project’s progress and Al-Sisi’s leadership. He underscored the long-standing relationship between Russia and Egypt, referencing past collaborations like the Aswan High Dam. Putin affirmed Rosatom’s commitment to utilizing state-of-the-art technology and adhering to stringent environmental standards,while also noting Russia’s ongoing training programs for Egyptian nuclear specialists and the broader applications of nuclear science in fields like medicine and agriculture.
The ceremony included the official declaration of the reactor vessel’s readiness by Nuclear Power Plants Authority chief Sherif Helmy, followed by the presidents’ signal to begin installation.earlier in the day, Egypt finalized agreements with Rosatom, including an order for nuclear fuel for the first reactor core (a Generation III+ VVER-1200 reactor) and a comprehensive cooperation agreement expanding collaboration into areas like radioisotope production for cancer treatment and 3D printing technologies.
