GEW calls for better protection in schools
The Education and Science Union calls on federal and state governments to improve crown protection in schools. “The mantra of the Conference of Ministers of Education (KMK) ‘Schools must remain open’ is correct, but it fails to reach the target,” says Maike Finnern, GEW head of the German publishing network (RND). “The implementation of these objectives means that schools must be supported and the health protection of all those involved in schools must be significantly improved: with concepts of prevention and hygiene, but above all with additional staff”. According to the Finns, sick leave among teachers due to various illnesses is already high: “The GEW receives feedback from schools that up to 20% of teachers are sick.” In addition, classes are expected to be postponed and tests could not be written because the students were infected with the corona virus, the GEW head warned. “Teachers must offer face-to-face and online lessons.”

Public health officials are demanding that masks be worn indoors
Given the high incidence of the crown, health officials have called for a return to the obligation to wear masks indoors. This could apply to supermarkets, shops or public buildings, for example, said the president of the Federal Association of Public Health Doctors, Johannes Nießen, the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”. Otherwise there is a risk that the health system will be overloaded: “It is up to the federal states to immediately implement the obligation of the mask”.
In case of increasing incidence, Nießen proposed further measures. “As soon as the incidence exceeds 1,000, we must consider making masks mandatory also for bars, delis and restaurants”, underlined the head of the association. “Then we actually have an incidence of 3,000.” A large number of unreported cases can be assumed. It assumes that the number of unreported cases is three times higher than the official incidence, Nießen said. Because many people no longer go to the doctor for a PCR test if they suspected the corona. They just took a quick test that wasn’t included in the stats.

The seven-day incidence in Lower Saxony increases slightly
For Lower Saxony, the RKI reports a seven-day incidence of 736.2 in the morning (previous day: 722.1, previous week: 863.6). As a result, 15,205 new corona infections were recorded. 25 people died with a recognized infection.

The seven-day incidence in Hamburg rises to 280.2
2,263 new crown cases were registered in Hamburg. According to the RKI, the seven-day incidence of new infections per 100,000 population is currently 280.2 (previous day: 221.8, previous week: 317.5). Four people died from an infection.

Seven-day incidence in Schleswig-Holstein at 533.4
The incidence of corona in Schleswig-Holstein continued to decline. It is currently 533.4, as reported by the civil registry office. A week ago, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week was 653.0. The number of new infections reported on Monday was 4,756, up from 5,043 a week earlier. On Monday the number of patients treated with Corona in one clinic was 738. A week ago it was 730. On Monday 61 patients were treated in the intensive care unit. It’s eleven o’clock more than a week ago. The incidence of hospitalization was 11.98, an increase compared to the previous week (11.43). The value indicates how many patients per 100,000 inhabitants were admitted to hospitals with a corona infection within one week.

RKI: Nationally, the seven-day incidence is now 687.5
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of known infections in Germany has increased by 150,052 to over 34.75 million. That’s 22,484 fewer cases than Tuesday a week ago, when 172,536 were registered. The seven-day incidence is 687.5. The RKI records a further 209 deaths related to the coronavirus. The total known number increases to 151,629.
Note on current numbers: The incidence values do not provide a complete picture of the infectious situation. Experts assume a large number of cases not registered by RKI, mainly because not all infected people have performed a PCR test. However, only positive PCR tests are included in the official statistics. Furthermore, delayed recordings or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values. In general, the number of new infections recorded varies significantly from weekday to weekday, as many federal states do not report them to RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases throughout the week.

Police officers threatened during the celebration – trial against the Altwarp group
To date, nine suspects must answer before the Pasewalk District Court for resisting law enforcement and violating Corona regulations. As members of a group of motorcyclists, the men are said to have caused a major police operation in Altwarp (West Pomerania-Greifswald) in July 2020. Local residents called the police about the noise. When officials asked the group to end the celebration, the suspects allegedly threatened police officers with sticks and baseball bats and initially refused to provide their personal information. The prosecutor rated this as a “case of particularly severe resistance”. The police eventually put an end to the then illegal encounter with reinforcements. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the defendants were aged between 17 and 54 at the time of the crime.
