Corona cases at nine schools – Freiburg

(sh / ani). The number of Freiburg schools affected by Corona is expanding – to nine. This now also includes the Merian School and the German-French Gymnasium. “At some point everyone gets caught,” said DFG director Johannes Remmer on Wednesday.

One of his classes with 28 students and four teachers are in quarantine. Four of the young people who actually live in the school’s boarding school were picked up by their parents. Fortunately, during the period in question, the class did not have any mixed lessons with other classes, as is part of the binational school concept. As the Freiburg Archdiocese confirmed, the Catholic College for Social Education was informed the day before about a Covid-19 case: 21 students are at home and receive distance learning, three teachers work from home. The dormitory is not affected.

Since the beginning of the school year, there have also been corona cases at the Lessing and Emil-Thoma-Realschule, at the Walter-Eucken-Gymnasium, at the Walther-Rathenau-Gewerbeschule and at the Free Christian School. At the Schnberg primary school, an infected person was at a parents’ evening, but the child was not in school.

The health department reported a total of 17 new infections in the region on Wednesday. Nine new Covid-19 diseases were confirmed in Freiburg, eight in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district. A total of 1321 people were infected with the corona virus in Freiburg. So far there have been 1576 corona cases reported in the district. The number of deaths remains unchanged at a total of 157. In Freiburg there were 81 dead and 76 in the district.
