Controversy around the video game Titanic Escape Simulator

Titanic Disaster Survival Game Sparks Controversy

A new video game, Titanic Escape Simulator, has ignited a firestorm of online debate due to its sensitive subject matter and potential use of AI-generated imagery. Scheduled for release on the PS5 in 2026, the game’s concept has prompted significant reactions from internet users.

Game’s Controversial Announcement

The game’s unveiling occurred unusually, promoted through viral content on Facebook and Instagram rather than through traditional gaming media or PlayStation announcements. These sponsored posts featured images accompanied by descriptions lifted from the PlayStation Store.

AI-Generated Images Raise Questions

Many of the images promoting the game, some of which have garnered over 70,000 reactions, appear to have been created using artificial intelligence. Close examination reveals unusual curves and a lack of detailed features, prompting speculation about the game’s authenticity.

Developer’s History Adds to Doubts

Furthermore, there is no actual gameplay footage, and comments on YouTube overwhelmingly suggest the trailer extracts were created by AI. The developer, Tetyana Vysochanska, is also under scrutiny.

Vysochanska is reported to have released seventeen games in 2024 alone, most of which received negative reviews. Some critics accuse the studio of producing “shovelware,” low-quality games created for quick profits. According to a 2023 report, the video game industry is expected to reach $340 billion by 2027 (Statista).

Titanic Escape Simulator raises serious questions about how tragic historical events should be presented in video games, along with the quality of productions flooding the current market. The gaming community awaits further “gameplay” footage to determine the game’s final form and whether it will overcome the controversy.
