This Friday, July 11, 2025, Valledupar lived a historical day in which, before the eyes of the entire continent, the launch of the 2026 Parasurian Games was made official.
The Alfonso López Plaza was the headquarters, with the participation of the Minister of Sports, Patricia Duque, representatives of the local authorities and, even, of King Vallenato 2025, Iván Zuleta, who gave a sample of the cultural value that will have the realization of the Games.

The Valledupar 2026 Parasurian Games represent the multisport event of the most important Paralympic sector in the history of Colombia, in addition to being the fair qualifiers that open the cycle towards the Paralympic Games of Los Angeles 2028. This guarantees the participation of the great figures and maximum exponents of the 12 confirmed countries, who will seek medals, titles and records in dispute. From July 5 to 16, 2026, these fair will be carried out in the city of Valledupar as the official headquarters, and in the important municipality of the Metropolitan Area, Agustín Codazzi, as a sub -vessel for two sports of the Parasur American Sports Program.
How many editions of Parasur American Games have been made?
Before Valledupar 2026, in the history of Paralympic sport the parasurors of Santiago de Chile 2014 were held, an event held from March 26 to 30 of that year, with the participation of 600 for athletes from 8 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The general medal of this first event was dominated by Argentina with 112 medals, followed by Brazil, and Venezuela ended. In Valledupar 2026 there will be the approximate action of 1,120 for athletes from 12 countries, these being in alphabetical order: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela. As an additional note, it is noted that this edition is expected that about 50 % of the total athletes will be women.
What official and sports entities support the games?
The Parasurian Games are a multisport event of the Paralympic Committee of the Americas (APC), an international entity that provides technical support to the organization of the fair. Likewise, the Colombian Paralympic Committee (CPC) plays an important role in the development of the event, since, in addition to being one of the 12 National Paralympic Committees (CPN), it is the host, so it assists technically and logistically in the organization. As the main financial, technical and logistics support is the Ministry of Sports of Colombia, governing entity of the sport in the country, which makes the greatest economic investment for the execution of the project. Together with the Mindort, the Government of Cesar and the Mayors of Valledupar and Agustín Codazzi participate.

In the Valledupar 2026 Parasurian Games, it will be competed in 13 sports, which are: for athletics, wheelchair basketball, for Badminton, Boccia, football for blind, Goalball, for swimming, paracycling, for powerlifting, for table tennis, wheelchair tennis, for archery and volleyball sitting.
What scenarios and for which sports will be used in Valledupar and Agustín Codazzi, during the Parasurors of 2026?
The city of Valledupar, official headquarters, has a first level infrastructure, legacy of the Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022. In the La Gota cold sports complex, three key scenarios are located: the Óscar Muñoz Oviedo fighting coliseum Basketball (wheelchair basketball).
In the Valledupar tennis complex, wheelchair tennis will be played, while Julio Monsalvo Castilla covered coliseum will dispute the sitting volleyball. In addition, the Armando Maestre Pavajeau stadium will host the inauguration and archery tests.
Another important cluster is that of the Popular University of Cesar, which has the only covered aquatic complex in the country, where the swimming will be carried out, and the gymnastics coliseum, selected for the powers of Boccia.
The Vallenata Music Cultural Center (CCMV), under construction, will be adapted to receive skills for Badminton and table tennis, in addition to housing the Office of Accreditations and, probably, the closing ceremony.
For its part, Agustín Codazzi as a sub -end of the Games, will also have competitions in their territory and sports infrastructure. In the Cotton Capital of Colombia, the soccer championship will be played for the blind, to be developed in the Olympic Village, as well as the Paracycling that in its two route modalities and against the individual CRI clock they will run mainly through the national roads that go through the jurisdiction of this municipality.
