Lower SaxonyS Confi-Cup: Football, Faith, and Community for Young Confirmands
hanover, Germany – October 26, 2025 – Nearly 450 young people experienced a vibrant party of faith and sportsmanship at this year’s Confi-Cup in lower Saxony. The annual event, organized by the Evangelical Churches in Lower Saxony, will return on February 7, 2026, in Hanover, offering another possibility for confirmands to connect, compete, and build lasting memories.
The Confi-Cup isn’t just about football; it’s a unique experience designed to foster community among young people preparing for confirmation in 2026. Teams of five confirmands, representing parishes and churches across Lower Saxony, will participate in a kind and spirited competition. Every participant will be recognized for their involvement, receiving both a medal and a certificate of participation.
The stakes are high, with trophies awarded to the top three teams. The winning team will receive a special prize: complimentary tickets for the entire group to attend a Women’s bundesliga game hosted by VfL wolfsburg. Beyond local recognition, the Confi-Cup serves as a qualifying event. The highest-performing teams from the regional churches of Hanover,Braunschweig,Oldenburg,Schaumburg-Lippe,and the Reformed Church will advance to the EKD Confi-Cup,taking place May 13-14,2026,in Cologne. This national competition pits the best confirmands from across Germany against each other in a quest for the EKD Cup.
The event organizers warmly welcome spectators to come and cheer on the participants, creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. It’s a fantastic opportunity to witness the energy and enthusiasm of these young people as they celebrate their faith and build community through sport.
