Climb4EyeHealth Campaign Launched in ⁢London to Transform‍ Eye Care Access in Uganda

London, UK ⁤- A fundraising conference and the launch of the Climb4EyeHealth campaign took place in London, signaling a major push to improve eye care accessibility in Uganda. The initiative, spearheaded by Eye health Africa ‌with support from Ubora Foundation⁣ Africa, aims ⁣to combat preventable blindness through international collaboration and enduring healthcare solutions.

Uganda’s High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Nimisha Madhvani, voiced her strong support for the campaign, stating, “The High Commission is proud to host such initiatives that forge lasting impacts through shared vision and united effort.”

The campaign highlights a ⁢commitment to both clinical‌ expertise and community outreach, as demonstrated by ‌the work of ⁣Eye Health Africa CEO, Primrose Magala, in ensuring vulnerable populations receive necessary care.

Meaningful progress has already been made by Ubora Foundation Africa, as reported by Dr. Innocent Ayesiga. They have successfully trained ⁣over 54 healthcare workers – exceeding their initial goals – and implemented neonatal eye screening at⁣ Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, establishing a foundation for a lasting, self-sufficient healthcare system.

Moses Mulimira, Global Health Partnerships Diaspora engagement Advisor and Uganda UK Health Foundation In-country Manager, emphasized the crucial link forged⁤ between Moorfields NHS Foundation Trust and Ugandan health‍ institutions through the campaign. “When ⁢global partnerships meet local priorities,‌ lives are transformed, preventable blindness no⁢ longer has to steal the future of Uganda’s children,” ‌he stated.

To fund these vital programs, the Climb4EyeHealth campaign will see participants fundraising through climbs of Africa’s‌ highest peaks, including Mount Stanley. Funds raised will directly support cataract camps, ⁢diagnostic services, and crucial training for clinicians. Supporters convened in London to pledge their commitment to preventing childhood blindness and building a sustainable eye care infrastructure across Uganda.
