HermannMassy, France – November 21, 2024 – The claudine Hermann Secondary School, designed by Ameller Dubois, has officially opened its doors on the Vilgénis site in massy, providing a new educational facility for the region. the project prioritizes integration with the surrounding natural environment adn sustainable design principles.
The new secondary school is located on the 22-hectare Vilgénis site, previously occupied by the Air France Aviation Apprenticeship Training Center. The site is characterized by significant woodland, a portion of which is formally protected. The design team, Ameller Dubois, focused on minimizing the building’s impact on these existing landscaped areas. This commitment led to a highly compact building form that follows the natural slope of the land, reducing the need for extensive site grading and preserving the woodland character.
