SGP MEP bert-Jan Ruissen Defends US Funding for Unborn Life Protection Amidst Criticism
Bert-Jan Ruissen, a Member of the European Parliament for the SGP, has defended the acceptance of American funding to protect unborn life, dismissing criticism as hypocritical. Ruissen stated, “Let us be glad that people in the United States recognize that unborn life deserves protection.” He further argued that the critique of American funding mirrors the pot calling the kettle black, pointing to what he described as datta’s own abortion lobby in Brussels, which he claims is primarily funded by US sources including Bill Gates, George Soros, and major pharmaceutical companies. According to Ruissen, this funding allegedly covers Datta’s salary and that of ten other lobbyists who advocate for abortion expansion within EU institutions. Ruissen vowed to continue representing the voice of the unborn alongside his parliamentary colleagues, despite what he perceives as an attempt by the report to silence dissenting voices.

Henk-Jan van Schothorst of Christian Council International (CCI) also faced criticism in the EPF report.Van Schothorst countered this by suggesting that people often accuse others of what they themselves are guilty of. He expressed heightened vigilance when seeing sponsors like Planned Parenthood, the Bill & Melinda gates Foundation, and Soros’ Open Society associated with such reports. Van Schothorst also noted that the EPF receives public funding from the World Health Organization, the European Union, and United Nations agencies. He asserted that these organizations have shifted their ideological stance, moving away from serving as executive bodies for conservative member states and instead promoting a left-liberal agenda driven by unelected bureaucratic elites.Van Schothorst characterized this as the primary revelation of the study: a new wave of government-sponsored bureaucratic extremism targeting organizations that oppose the “chaos and moral bankruptcy” he associates with the EPF.
