Chicago Shooting: Teenager Critically Wounded, Woman Injured in South Shore Attack

CHICAGO ⁤- A 16-year-old boy is⁢ in critical ‍condition and ⁣a ​34-year-old woman is recovering after a shooting in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood Sunday ‍morning. The shooting ​underscores the ongoing challenge of gun violence in the city, notably impacting young⁢ people and communities on the South Side.

Chicago police responded to ⁢the 6700 block‍ of South Cregier Avenue around 10 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Preliminary investigations indicate that multiple individuals in⁤ a vehicle opened fire on the ‌boy and woman as​ they were outside. The suspects then‌ fled the scene.

The ⁣16-year-old boy sustained three gunshot wounds to the body, while the woman suffered two gunshot wounds ‍to her right leg. Both victims were transported to the ⁤University of Chicago⁣ Hospital ⁤for treatment.As of Sunday afternoon, the ​boy’s condition ⁣is listed as critical, and the‌ woman is in fair condition.

Police have not released descriptions of the suspects or​ the vehicle involved and ​Area⁢ one detectives⁤ are ⁣investigating. No arrests have been ⁤made.
