An Aramark employee at UI Health, identified as Glenn Rhymes, is currently at large after an incident Monday morning in the OCC South Tower lobby. Rhymes, who is suspected of shooting two people, remains at large, with Chicago police leading the investigation into the shootings.
The situation began when Rhymes allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation with a patient. During the argument, Rhymes reportedly brandished a handgun and made a threatening statement. No shots were fired, and no injuries occurred during this hospital encounter. UIC Police and UI Health Security responded promptly, detaining Rhymes and confiscating the firearm. Rhymes was subsequently released from custody.
Following his release from the hospital incident, authorities learned of Rhymes’ alleged involvement in a shooting that left two individuals injured. One of the victims is also an Aramark employee at UI Health. The circumstances and timing of these shootings are currently unknown, as are the conditions of the victims and any potential motive.
