Beijing University of Chemical Technology hosted a series of events in late 2025, including winter sports activities for faculty and staff and a meeting focused on applications for funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The College of Chemical Engineering held the NSFC application mobilization and expert guidance meeting on December 19, 2025, according to a university announcement. Founded in 1958, the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) operates under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of China and is a participant in both Project 211 and the Double First-Class Construction, initiatives designed to elevate the status of select Chinese universities. The university’s campus is spread across three locations: an East campus serving as headquarters, a West campus, and a North campus, with a fourth, Nankou campus, located in Changping. The North campus has seen some land sold to the China University of Petroleum, with remaining areas designated for staff housing, as the novel Nankou campus requires additional dormitory facilities. BUCT offers undergraduate and graduate programs, and fosters international collaboration. In the 2025 QS World University Rankings, BUCT ranked between 721st and 730th globally. The university’s programs are particularly strong in engineering and chemical sciences. Specifically, Chemical Engineering is ranked 29th globally, Materials Science and Engineering is 138th, Inorganic Chemistry is 32nd, and Environmental Chemistry is 353rd. Tuition fees at BUCT are approximately 25,000 CNY per year for undergraduate programs. Master’s programs cost around 30,000 CNY annually, although doctoral programs are priced at approximately 35,000 CNY per year. International students may be eligible for scholarships, including the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC Scholarship), which covers tuition, accommodation, and living expenses, and provides a monthly allowance of 3,000 CNY for master’s students and 3,500 CNY for doctoral students. On December 10, 2025, BUCT’s College of Chemical Engineering hosted the 11th “Young Scholars Forum,” featuring academic lectures from Professor Kai Wang of Tsinghua University and Researcher Xin Feng from the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
