Sant Andreu Defeats de Zaan in Champions League Women’s Match, extending Winning Streak
Barcelona, Spain – Sant Andreu continued its dominant run in the Champions League Women’s water polo competition with a 17-10 victory over De Zaan on November 9, 2023. The win mirrors the scoreline of their super Cup final triumph earlier in the season.
De Zaan faced a challenging match, falling behind by two goals on three separate occasions during the middle periods. However, Sant Andreu’s consistent pace ultimately proved too strong. De Zaan was unable to score in the final five minutes of the third period and throughout the entire fourth period, as Sant Andreu controlled both offensive and defensive play.
A penalty converted by Alice Williams, alongside two six-on-five goals scored by Ariadna Ruiz in the third period, helped Sant Andreu establish a commanding 7-12 led. Ruiz finished the game with four goals. Sant Andreu extended their advantage with two additional goals in the fourth, securing a seven-goal winning margin.
