[CES 2021] Lenovo unveils’Region Slim 7′, a gaming laptop equipped with AMD Ryzen 5000

On the 13th, Lenovo has unveiled new gaming laptops to be released in the global market in the first half of this year, such as’Region Slim 7 and Region 5 Pro’, at the world‘s largest technology exhibition’CES 2021’.

Lenovo’s new gaming laptops are all based on the Ryzen 5000 series processors for AMD laptops. In addition, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series graphics chipset was combined to take advantage of multi-threaded performance and graphics performance.

‘Region Slim 7’is the successor to the Region Slim 7i released last year. Unlike previous products that used Intel’s 10th generation core processor (Comet Lake H) and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 MaxQ graphics chipset, it is equipped with AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors.

At the CES keynote address held on the 12th (US local time), AMD CEO Lisa Su said, “We will provide up to 8 cores and 16 threads for the 7nm process based AMD Ryzen Mobile 5000 processor based on Ryzen 7 5800U.” Introduced.

The Ryzen Mobile 5000 processor emphasized that it provides 18% improvement in digital content creation, 44% video encoding, 7% office work, and 39% design & visual work compared to competitors’ latest processors. The battery life also achieved up to 17.5 hours for general use and 21 hours for simple video playback.

Also, the’Region 5 Pro’ is a gaming laptop equipped with a 16-inch QHD (2560×1600) display. It is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 H-series processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 graphics chipset. The NVIDIA G-Sync function is supported, which reduces the cutoff or stuttering phenomenon in the game. The screen refresh rate is up to 165Hz, the response speed is at the minimum level of 3ms, the sRGB color space is 100% supported, and Dolby Vision HDR content can be played.

On the other hand, Lenovo Korea officially launched the’Region Slim 7i’, the previous model of the Region Slim 7, in Korea. In particular, it has a weight of only 1.86kg and a slim thickness of at least 15.9mm and maximum of 17.9mm, boasting excellent portability. With up to 10th Gen Intel Core i9 HK series mobile processor and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q design GPU, it delivers powerful performance.

It supports up to 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD, up to 32GB 2933MHz DDR4 memory. The Region Slim 7i’s FHD IPS display reaches 144 FPS (frames per second) at 144Hz, supports 100% sRGB color gamut, and features Dolby Vision to achieve a high level of color with amazing brightness and contrast ratio.

The battery has a large capacity of 71WHr and boasts improved battery performance with a Rapid Charge Boost function. With the built-in regional cold front 2.0, there is little noise and heat even when used for a long time. In addition, a fine hole was made in the top of the keyboard through which the processor and graphic chipset passes, enhancing the air intake performance by 31% compared to the previous product.
