Centurion Relaunches E-SUV with Trail-Focused Upgrade
New Numinis EQ Boasts Increased Travel and MTB Components
Centurion has significantly revamped its E-SUV lineup, introducing the Numinis EQ with an updated frame and enhanced trail capabilities. This evolution marks a clear commitment to bridging the gap between utility and genuine off-road performance.
Performance-Driven Redesign
The revised Centurion Numinis EQ features a redesigned frame, relocating the damper beneath the top tube. This allows for a substantial increase in travel to 140 millimeters. Centurion has equipped the bike with components typically found on dedicated mountain bikes, including Schwalbe’s versatile Nobby Nic tires, Shimano Deore or XT for shifting and braking, and quality suspension from FOX.
Trail Ready with Everyday Appeal
The Numinis EQ is presented as a capable e-mountain bike, with a variant, the Centurion Numinis R2000, available without everyday accessories. Its extended travel and geometry are optimized for tackling rough terrain at speed. While its considerable weight doesn’t hinder performance off-road, it does make the bike less agile than lighter, playful options.
The bike’s sporty DNA means it requires a good level of rider skill to unlock its full potential. A lower front end, designed for climbing, can lead to rider uncertainty on very steep descents. In urban settings, this aggressive posture can put pressure on the wrists, and even thicker tires might be beneficial for added protection against flats.
Powertrain and Features
Centurion has integrated the new Bosch Performance CX motor, a choice that contributes to the bike’s strong overall value. The large 800 Wh battery facilitates extremely long rides, minimizing the need for frequent recharging. The Bosch Performance CX unit itself is praised for its smooth, dynamic, and sensitive power delivery, marking it as a top-tier electric bike motor. The optional Kiox display adds practical navigation features to the E-SUV’s comprehensive package.
As of early 2024, the e-bike market continues to see strong growth, with electric mountain bikes, including E-SUVs, making up a significant portion of sales. In Germany, for example, e-bike sales reached approximately 2.2 million units in 2023, indicating a robust consumer interest in versatile electric two-wheelers. (Statista, 2024)
