Carolina Marín Signals Potential 2026 Return, Emphasizes Prioritizing‍ Wellbeing

Vigo, Spain - Three-time badminton world champion Carolina Marín has publicly shared ⁤a candid‌ account of her recovery and future aspirations, hinting at a possible return⁢ to competition as early as 2026. Speaking⁣ at ⁣a recent congress in Vigo, the 32-year-old detailed ⁢the critically important physical and mental ⁣challenges she’s faced, offering a hopeful outlook for her career⁤ and ⁣a new perspective on athlete wellbeing.

Marín’s update ‍comes ‍after a period marked by serious⁤ injuries that, just a year ago, led ‍her‍ to ‌believe resuming her ⁢badminton career was impossible. However, the athlete now expresses a renewed focus ‌on holistic health, stating, “I have ⁣learned to understand my body better and to put my health first. Exercise is great, but it is not endless. Health remains.” This shift in mindset, ⁤coupled ‍with rigorous training at the‍ High ⁣Performance Center (CAR), is fueling her cautious optimism.

The Spaniard described her comeback as more than just a return to the court, but a complete realignment of her priorities. Unlike past recoveries, Marín is prioritizing her⁣ physical and mental wellbeing.‍ While acknowledging the enthusiasm of her fans, she remains grounded, focusing on daily progress rather than immediate ‍competitive goals. “I don’t concentrate on the competition, but on my everyday life. I⁢ live in the here and now, because what happens tomorrow can only be influenced by⁤ taking‌ care of today,” she explained.

The European Championships in Huelva, scheduled for April, in the arena⁢ named in her honour,‌ serves as a motivating factor, though not an “obsession,”⁢ but rather⁢ “a joy.” Marín emphasized that ⁣her greatest accomplishment isn’t measured in titles, but in her resilience. “There have been many difficult moments, both in‌ sport and privately. But I continue to move forward because I ⁢want to.If you don’t⁣ want to‍ move forward, you stand still,” she stated.‌

Looking ahead, Marín aims to enjoy the process and inspire the next ‍generation of badminton players. “Every day that I can train again, feel good and enjoy badminton is a⁤ win,” she concluded.
