The improvements in the different sections of the roads are very important for the pilgrims to gain safety. Good news for users of the Portuguese Way because the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has just put out to tender the construction of a pedestrian walkway for the Portuguese Way to Santiago on the A-52 Highway, pk 306 + 000 (link to Or Porriño). With an investment of almost 257,000 euros, this action is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to improve the safety conditions of road users. A footbridge that aims to establish a safe itinerary that allows the passage of pedestrians, mainly pilgrims, on the A-52 and N-550 motorways. The walkway consists of three sections of 8, 11 and 8 meters and spans a gauge of 5.50 meters. The deck will have a useful width of 3 meters and a longitudinal slope of 3.5%. The construction of a staircase that allows the pedestrian to overcome the unevenness by using this alternative path is also contemplated, as well as the lifting and replacement of the existing railing in the project area.
