BYD Responds to Euro NCAP Criticism with ADAS Update for ⁤Act‌ 3

September 28, 2025, 00:35:37 CEST – BYD is implementing updates to the Advanced ⁣Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) on its Act 3 model following critical feedback from Euro NCAP, the European New Car Assessment Program. The move comes after the Act 3 received a disappointing ⁣safety rating, prompting BYD to address identified shortcomings in its automated driving features. This revision is notably crucial as Euro NCAP prepares to⁤ introduce more stringent safety ⁢assessment protocols in 2026, raising the bar for ⁢vehicle safety standards across the board.

The initial ⁤Euro NCAP assessment highlighted deficiencies in the Act 3’s ADAS performance, specifically concerning its ability to reliably detect and respond to vulnerable road‍ users. While the vehicle demonstrated adequate passive safety, the active safety systems-designed to prevent ‌accidents in the first place-fell short of expectations. ‌Euro NCAP’s⁢ report indicated the need⁤ for improvements in ⁢areas like‌ automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance. BYD acknowledged the concerns and has committed to a software update designed to rectify these⁣ issues. According to guidance provided by BYD,owners should contact their Area Board dealer‌ to receive assistance ⁢with the update.

Euro NCAP announced it will revise its safety‍ assessment protocols‌ beginning in‌ 2026, introducing new tests‍ and increasing the complexity of existing ones. These changes ⁢will place greater emphasis on the performance of ADAS technologies and their ability to handle a wider range of real-world driving scenarios.
