Rotterdam Was Intense”: Bureau Host Ewout Genemans Names Most Extreme City in series

UTRECHT,Netherlands – television presenter Ewout Genemans, host of the popular Dutch documentary series Bureau, has revealed that filming in Rotterdam was the most intense experience of his time embedded with local police forces. Genemans has spent time with law enforcement in seven Dutch cities – Amsterdam,Rotterdam,Eindhoven,The Hague,Arnhem,Maastricht, and currently Utrecht – for the show, which follows officers on their daily patrols.

“Yes, Rotterdam, that was intense,” Genemans admitted, describing a heightened level of activity compared too other locations.”Everything there is a bit more extreme. If there was a firearm report, it was a bazooka, so to speak. Or if drugs were found, it was immediately a lot.”

Despite the intensity, Genemans insists the work remains consistently engaging. “People sometimes say: ‘Isn’t it boring?’ But with this program you just never know how a day will go. I’m always looking forward to it,” he stated.

While Rotterdam stood out for its scale, Genemans also highlighted the unique character of Maastricht, noting the smaller police force meant he was often “always the first on the scene” when incidents occurred. He emphasized that each city offered a distinct experience.

Genemans maintains positive relationships with officers across all locations, even staying in touch with some from the first season of Bureau. he playfully acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining contact with everyone he’s worked with.

Future episodes may explore filming in Leeuwarden or Lelystad, but for now, rotterdam remains the most memorable location for the Bureau host.”Everything was just a little bit bigger there,” he concluded.
