Houston rapper Bun B publicly celebrated his wife, Angela “Queenie” Walls, after she was declared cancer-free on Tuesday, February 19, 2026. The artist, born Bernard Freeman, shared a video on social media of Walls ringing a ceremonial bell at the Methodist System hospital, signifying the end of her treatment, Essence reported.
Walls was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer during a routine checkup last June. Bun B, 52, described his wife as his “best friend, wife, partner, lover, business partner and more,” and lauded her strength throughout the ordeal. “She fought like a champ for our family and for herself,” he wrote in a social media post. “No self doubt or pity. She stood tall on faith and fought through pain, poison, exhaustion, neuropathy and more daily and attended all family events even when she was in serious pain & discomfort but she still didn’t complain.”
Chemotherapy began in July and concluded in December, followed by surgery in early January. The couple, married since 2003, have been widely recognized as a prominent fixture in Houston’s cultural landscape. They share two children from Walls’ previous relationship and are also grandparents. Bun B emphasized the importance of regular health screenings, stating, “I implore everyone to please get your health checked yearly and consistently due to the fact that in cases of cancer and other illnesses early detection can be the difference between life and death.”
Bun B’s career began as one half of the influential Texas hip-hop duo UnderGround Kingz (UGK), alongside Pimp C. The group achieved national recognition with hits like “International Players Anthem” featuring Outkast, and collaborations with Jay-Z and Three 6 Mafia. UGK disbanded following Pimp C’s death in 2007. Bun B has continued a successful solo career and remains a respected figure in the music industry.
In a 2010 interview, Bun B spoke of his wife’s grounded nature, noting that she wasn’t drawn to the trappings of fame. “Almost every time my wife comes somewhere it’s an argument, because she wants to stay home and I just want her to see some of these nicer things I get to experience,” he said. The couple renewed their vows in 2023, marking two decades of marriage. Bun B also publicly thanked the doctors at the Methodist System for their care and bedside manner, and expressed gratitude to friends and family for their support during Walls’ treatment, according to iHeartRadio.
