Bringing Verdi’s “Falstaff” Opera to the Silver Screen

Cineworld Mainfrankenpark will broadcast Guiseppe Verdi’s opera “Falstaff” live from the Metropolitan Opera New York via satellite on Saturday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m.

According to the announcement, Verdi’s last masterpiece is based on Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor”. In the musical version of this comedy, German baritone Michael Volle sings his first Verdi role at the Metropolitan Opera as the villainous knight Falstaff. He is tormented with relish by a trio of clever women and given his well-deserved punishment.

Robert Carsen’s production is set in the countryside of 20th-century England. The live broadcast is in Italian with German subtitles.
