Nashville​ songwriter Brett James,⁢ celebrated for penning hits ​like “Jesus, Take the⁤ Wheel” and “When⁣ the​ Sun ‍Goes Down,” tragically⁣ died in a small plane crash on September 18, 2023. In a poignant detail emerging after​ his death, James’ final ⁤Instagram posts ⁤showcased cherished moments with his adult children, offering a⁢ bittersweet glimpse into ⁣his personal life just weeks before ⁤the accident.

James,⁢ a two-time ASCAP Country‍ Songwriter of the Year,​ was 57 years old. His passing has prompted an⁤ outpouring of grief from fellow artists and industry peers, including Dierks‌ Bentley, Jason⁢ Aldean, and Tim McGraw, ⁢who lauded ⁤his talent and contributions‍ to ⁢country music.
