Nuevo León Provides Breast Cancer Patients with Prostheses Through Collaborative Effort
Guadalupe, Nuevo León – The Nuevo León Ministry of Health, in partnership with Fundación Alma and Benavides Pharmacies, recently delivered external prostheses too women diagnosed with breast cancer who have undergone mastectomies. The event took place at the UNEME DEDICAM facility in Guadalupe.
This initiative underscores a continued commitment to supporting breast cancer patients throughout their journey – from detection and diagnosis to treatment and recovery – with thorough care and adaptation assistance.
Secretary of Health, Alma Rosa Marroquín, highlighted the challenges and rewards of implementing universal breast cancer coverage, expressing pride in the holistic care provided to patients.
“When we arrived at the Secretariat, we envisioned a dream that is now a reality for you and all the women of Nuevo León. We have not, and will not, disappoint you. We have worked tirelessly to create a strategy that offers not only health benefits but a comprehensive intervention with a multidisciplinary care team,ensuring you feel at home at this UNEME DEDICAM.”
The prostheses were made possible through the collaboration with Fundación Alma and funding generated by the annual Rosa Fuerte race, organized by Benavides Pharmacies.
Dr. Rina Gitler, Director of Fundación Alma, and Anabel Guevara Martínez, Director of Human Resources at Benavides Pharmacies, attended the event and participated in the delivery of high-quality prostheses.
Dr.Gitler expressed her satisfaction with the progress made in Nuevo león regarding women’s health,while emphasizing the ongoing need for breast cancer prevention through self-examination and improved training for healthcare professionals in detection and care.
