Brazilian Investors Eye East Sumba Cattle Farming
Brazilian investors have expressed interest in developing cattle farming in East Sumba, East nusa Tenggara. Transmigration Minister Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara stated that East Sumba is a perfect fit for their endeavors. The ministry plans to assist them to ensure benefits for the local community. East Sumba is considered a strategic region for Brazil’s cattle farming development, having previously been designated a Special Economic Zone for livestock. However, the SEZ development stalled due to a lack of investors. suryanagara will discuss economic development potential in transmigration regions with Brazil. His ministry is also allocating funds for East Sumba’s development through the Transmigration Settlement Development program. East Sumba will receive approximately $1.75 million of the $4.79 million allocated for east Nusa tenggara, representing the largest share in the province this year. These funds will support clean water facilities, road improvements, elementary school upgrades, and toilet repairs. Additionally, 185 researchers will map East nusa Tenggara’s economic potential, with 20 focusing on East Sumba. The Ministry of Agriculture is preparing a pilot project for cattle farming on 10,000 hectares of transmigration land in East Sumba.
