Montoire Festival Shop Offers Global Treasures, Supports Local Arts
Montoire-sur-le-Loir, Loir-et-Cher – The 52nd Montoire Festival’s pop-up shop, located within the premises of the municipal music school in the Marescot district, is currently offering a diverse selection of handcrafted goods from around the globe. The shop, which operates on a volunteer basis, provides crucial support for the festival’s operations and local arts initiatives.
The shop’s operation relies on the dedication of twelve volunteers, divided into two teams. one team manages all ticketing for festival events, including performances, concerts at the Église Saint-Pierre, and meals at the Tipico restaurant. The second team curates and manages the sale of the international artisan crafts.
A World of Gifts Awaits
Shoppers can find a wide array of gifts, appealing to both collectors and those seeking unique items. The inventory includes figurines of animals – cats, owls, dolphins, elephants, and turtles – crafted from wood, ceramic, and glass. Beyond figurines, the shop features teapots, jewelry, spice bottles, singing bowls, fans, horn cutlery, banana leaf lamps, and decorative fountains.
A notably popular section showcases a variety of bags, including the practical and stylish “tote bags” made of durable fabric. Backpacks, kits, pouches, scarves, and colorful ponchos are also available. Prices are intentionally varied, ensuring accessibility for all budgets.
The handcrafted items originate from numerous countries across four continents: India, Morocco, Vietnam, Tunisia, Nepal, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, South Africa, and Egypt. The shop’s selection reflects the festival’s commitment to cultural exchange and global understanding.
“The peoples have always exchanged, shared, and engaged in dialog. The Montoire Festival is a bridge between cultures, between languages, between stories. It is a cry of peace and fraternity that we launch together,” stated Philippe Proust, President of the Montoire Festival. The festival, founded in 1972 by Jean-Pierre Darras, has become a meaningful cultural event in the Loir-et-Cher region, attracting attendees from across France and beyond.
