BMW kidneys will become a topic again! And this time not because they grow absurdly

BMW is preparing to significantly⁢ alter ‍the design of its ‍iconic kidney grilles, possibly shrinking them as early as 2028, according to recent reports. This shift comes as the automaker explores new design ‍languages for its “Neue Klasse” vehicle family and beyond, signaling a possible departure from⁤ the increasingly ⁣large grille sizes seen in recent⁤ models. The change is driven by advancements in BMW’s‍ electric vehicle technology and a⁢ re-evaluation of its brand identity. ‌With electric powertrains requiring less airflow for cooling, the functional ⁤necessity for‍ oversized‍ grilles diminishes. BMW⁣ first announced its‌ commitment ⁢to hydrogen fuel cell technology for ⁤series production⁤ in 2028,alongside showcasing a futuristic ‌”Panoramic Vision” concept featuring a ‍large,windscreen-width display. The company’s⁢ design direction is evolving,‌ and the kidney grille-a defining BMW ⁢characteristic as 1933-is being re-imagined ⁢for a new ⁤era.

Recent public opinion,as evidenced by a⁤ poll with 141 respondents, suggests⁤ a mixed reaction to BMW’s larger grille designs, with some⁢ preferring the more traditional aesthetic. The Neue Klasse, ⁣slated to begin ⁤production next ‍year,⁤ will be the⁤ first to showcase⁢ these new design elements. BMW’s hydrogen-powered vehicles, arriving in 2028, will further demonstrate the company’s evolving approach to vehicle‌ design and ⁣technology.
