Blizzard launches World of Warcraft Forever final beta event

Blizzard launches World of Warcraft Forever final beta event

October 24, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

World of Warcraft: Forever is preparing for its global launch with a final beta event that throws out standard rules, showering players with legendary items and spawning world bosses ahead of the official release on November 4, gametoc.co.kr reported. Blizzard is running a special event as the beta test approaches its conclusion, providing a unique experience outside normal game rules to celebrate the final day and let users freely enjoy equipment that is normally difficult to obtain.

Blizzard Introduces High-Tier Gear Drops Before Beta Ends

Opening 24 hours before the beta test concluded at 2 a.m. Korean time on October 23, Blizzard introduced a temporary event designed to let players freely use high-tier equipment normally locked behind difficult raids or complex crafting, gametoc.co.kr reported. Footage and forum posts highlighted by livestreamers and Reddit users showed normal monsters dropping both hero and legend-tier gear, with some high-level equipment stripped of level requirements entirely to let low-level characters wield powerful weapons.

Monster invasion events also swept across zones like Zandalar’s Zepras Island, Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Teldrassil, Durotar, Tirisfal Glades, and Mulgore, featuring falling infernals and high-level enemies. Reddit users and community streams documented world bosses such as Kazzak appearing outside Orgrimmar. Blizzard clarified that these rules and drops are strictly one-time beta celebrations and will not carry over into the live game, gametoc.co.kr reported.

Blizzard Announces Raid Instances for December 10

When the game officially goes live on November 4 at 3 p.m. PST—corresponding to 8 a.m. on November 5 in Korea, according to MMOEXP—60-level players will gain access to three distinct raid instances on December 10, Blizzard announced in its official patch overview.

The Content Lineup:

  • The Undercell: A 10-player raid situated inside Mount Hyjal, connecting multiple entrances via Mount Hyjal, Winterspring, and Deadwood Post, featuring 8 bosses across Illidan Stormrage’s ancient prison.
  • Hyjal Summit: A 20-player raid located near the World Tree Nordrassil atop Mount Hyjal, featuring 13 bosses starting with ancient guardians.
  • Onyxia’s Lair: A 40-player raid in Dustwallow Marsh where players must navigate 3-phase fire attacks and require a Drakefire Amulet to enter.

Entering Onyxia’s Lair requires completing an extensive faction-specific attunement chain, Blizzard outlined, which for Horde players involves visiting Kargath in the Badlands to receive initial quests from General Goretooth, speaking with Eitrigg in Orgrimmar, meeting Thrall, and following instructions from Rexxar after hearing what Thrall learned to ultimately deliver a will to old woman Miranda in the Western Plaguelands, acquire a dragonkin’s eye, and test skills against Emberstrife.

Character Name Reservations Open from October 27

Character name reservations open ahead of launch, beginning October 27 in North America and Europe, and October 28 in Korea and Taiwan, MMOEXP reported. Specifically, North American reservations begin at 1 p.m. PDT on October 27, European reservations begin at 6 p.m. CET on October 27, Korean reservations begin at 7 a.m. KST on October 28, and Taiwanese reservations begin at 7 a.m. CST on October 28, with the reservation window running from October 27 through November 3 based on Blizzard’s English notice. Qualified upgrade purchasers can secure up to three character names across all rule sets between October 27 and November 3, using a dual-name system that allows identical first names if the full combination remains unique within the region.

Developer Aggrend stated on October 22 that RP-PvP will be provided at the November 4 launch. Blizzard also introduced an RP-PvP rule system replacing traditional server selection, according to newstooned.co.kr, which the development team announced via the official website on October 23. Players choose specific gameplay rules—such as Normal, War, or Roleplaying—at character creation within a single unified environment, though cross-rule party formation in cooperative content remains restricted. In announcing the system, the development team explained that the RP-PvP rules are designed to let users choose their experience more clearly so everyone can start their preferred journey in WoW Forever and meet other adventurers to join. Hardcore rules, featuring permanent death with a single permitted character transfer upon dying, will launch at a later date.
