Billtrust Integrates Agentic AI ‌to Optimize Collections Strategies

NEW YORK – November 6, 2025 – ‍Billtrust has ‌expanded⁣ its Collections‌ solution with the addition of agentic AI capabilities, designed to recommend optimal strategies ⁣for accounts receivable teams. The new⁢ features, ⁢announced in July, encompass AI-powered email, dispute management, credit review, and collections analytics, marking a critically important step toward⁣ automating and enhancing the collections process.

This move comes as adoption⁣ of agentic AI within⁣ finance departments accelerates. A⁣ recent PYMNTS Intelligence report, “How Agentic AI Went From Zero to CFO Test Runs in 90 Days,” ⁣revealed that nearly 7% of U.S. enterprise⁤ chief financial officers ‌have already deployed agentic AI‍ in live ‌finance workflows,⁢ with an additional 5% currently running pilot ‌programs. Businesses realizing positive returns ⁢on investment from generative AI are demonstrating the fastest adoption rates of its agentic ‍applications.

“We’re delivering the future of collections – ‌intelligent, automated and ⁤customer-centric,” said ‌Billtrust CEO Sunil Rajasekar in a press release. The company is taking an incremental approach to AI⁣ integration, focusing on automating manual tasks before moving toward a ⁤”human-on-the-loop” model ⁤that prioritizes visibility ⁤and control.

According⁣ to Billtrust Vice President of Product Dave ruda, ⁣the strategy isn’t about replacing human workers. “You can’t ⁢AI everything,” Ruda⁣ told ⁣PYMNTS‍ in an August interview. “It’s ‌more, ‘where do we see ⁣the most amount ‍of human-in-the-loop manual effort, and ⁣how can we make that robotic’ – then eventually move ‌to human-on-the-loop, which requires ‍visibility.”

The‍ integration of agentic AI aims to empower accounts‌ receivable teams to ⁣work more ‍efficiently and strategically, ultimately improving ⁣cash ‍flow and reducing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
