Berlin Welcomes New Town Clerk, Reorganizes Council Leadership
BERLIN, Ala. – the Berlin Town Council convened monday, nov. 3, to swear in newly elected and re-elected officials, including a new town clerk and a revised leadership structure. The appointments signal a fresh start for the town as it moves forward with ongoing operations and future planning.
Mayor Patrick Bates and Councilmembers Donald Gunter, Edith Stevenson, Eudon Bates, and Keith Hardman all took the oath of office, administered by Vinemont Town Clerk Kayecea Sasser. Councilman Steven Michael Clark was absent and will be sworn in at a later date. A key change came with the election of Keith Hardman as mayor pro tem, replacing Donald Gunter who expressed his desire to step down from the role.
in a meaningful move, the council unanimously approved the hiring of Keirstyn Montgomery as the new Berlin Town Clerk, with Sasser administering the oath of office. The council also addressed several resolutions to streamline town operations. Resolution 15 authorizes the council to deposit funds in qualified banks and savings and loan institutions within Cullman County, allowing for adaptability in banking choices. Resolution 16 established mileage reimbursement rates at the current IRS standard of 70 cents per mile. Resolution 17 formally set the date and time for regular town council meetings – the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
