Beach Tennis: FCBT Dominates Martinique BT 1000 Event – Faxinfo

Beach Tennis Stars Shine at Martinique ScherchelS Mardiana Beach

Fort-de-France, Martinique – The sands of Martinique Scherchel’s mardiana Beach buzzed with excitement this past weekend, February 3-4, as the second BT 5 event of the season brought together the top beach tennis talent from across the Antilles. The “Ti Vaval La” carnival-themed tournament, a BT 1000 event, drew an impressive 1,000 adult and youth participants, including numerous league and French champions, underscoring the burgeoning popularity and high level of beach tennis in the region.

The event, a collaborative effort between the Martinique Beach Tennis Association (BTM) and the Martinique League, showcased the significant progress of beach tennis in the Antilles Islands and the development of elite athletic talent.

Among the notable competitors were several players representing the Friendly Caribbean Beach Tennis Association (FCBT) and St. Martin’s group. The FCBT has provided years of dedicated funding to promising young athletes, including Guadeloupe champion and U3 French champion Amélie THIANT, who competed in the U14 category. Alexandre THIANT, also a Guadeloupe champion, represented the U14 division, while Guadeloupe runner-up Jules LAMORT, a 14-year-old who has advanced from the U12 category, made a strong debut in his first BT 14 senior group competition, demonstrating extraordinary competitive spirit and skill.

The FCBT actively fosters the sport through its regular hosting of 6-on-6 games on its four courts, spanning from Palm Beach to Oriental bay.their 2022 BT 86 competition saw 200 adult and teenage players participate. Furthermore, the FCBT initiated the first Antilles Youth Score Game party, which was attended by French coach Jérôme MAILLOT, who identified several promising young talents. Two BT 2 matches organized by FCBT were relocated to Le Moule, Guadeloupe.

The Friendly Caribbean Beach Tennis Association’s next major event will be the ITF BT 26-50 International Championships in St. Barthelemy.
