BC Trogen Memory Prepares for season Kick-Off on September 28th
BC Trogen Memory, the 2023/24 champions, begins its new season with away matches on Sunday, September 28th. The NLA team will face Argovia at 11 a.m., while the NLB team will play at 2:30 p.m. against the same opponent.
The club aims to reach the playoffs – the top four teams – after narrowly missing out in the 2024/25 season. A key strategy to achieve this involves strengthening the team with players gaining Swiss citizenship. Player-coach Agung Restanda, his wife Agnia, and daughter Azkya now qualify as Swiss nationals, freeing up a valuable spot in the foreign player quota. Azkya, alongside Leila Zarrouk, will contribute in women’s singles, though both may miss some NLA rounds due to international commitments.mochamad Diaz and tania Oktaviani Kusumah have also secured Swiss status “in terms of badminton technology.”
“There will be an increasingly own boy to be seen,” says a club representative, highlighting the development of young talent like anic Metzger, who has shown promise in international youth tournaments in doubles and mixed events. Jenjira Stadelmann, an Olympic participant in paris 2024, has moved to Argovia and was unable to play for Trogen Memory last season due to health reasons.
On the men’s side, Muhammad Iqbal’s contract was not renewed after two years due to budgetary constraints. “This relieves our budget massively. Iqbal was 100 percent employed,” a club spokesperson stated. He has been replaced by Indonesian Imka Putrama Arlin,23,who will travel from Mulhouse for games and play second to Diaz. Imka’s versatility will also see him potentially compete in doubles or mixed events.
New additions Franziska and Patrick Volkmann, a prosperous German couple with Bundesliga and national team experiance, have joined the club. Based in Dornbirn, they have been organizing badminton courses on behalf of BC Trogen Memory.
The first home games for Trogen Memory will be held on sunday, October 12th, against Yverdon-les-Bains (NLA) and the University of Basel (NLB). The NLB team finished third in the 2024/25 championship and aims to secure a position in the upper half of the league this season.
