Barbosa Secures Gold as Brazil Shines at IJF Pan American Open
Lima, Peru – October 8, 2025 – Brazil’s Rafael Barbosa claimed the gold medal in the -66kg category today at the International Judo Federation (IJF) Pan American open in Lima, Peru, leading a dominant performance by the Brazilian team. The victory marks a notable achievement for Barbosa and underscores Brazil’s growing strength in international judo competition.
The IJF Pan American Open serves as a crucial event for athletes across the Americas, offering ranking points and valuable competitive experience. Following the medal presentations, Dr. Antonio Castro, IJF ambassador & Chair of the IJF Medical Commission, and Mr. Roger Principe, Sport Director of the Peruvian Institute of Sports, honored the athletes with medals, cheques, and flowers.
