Austin, Texas – Austin police Department released video footage Friday detailing the events preceding a downtown shooting that took place late last month, July 27.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of East 5th Street and Red River street, according too the Austin Police Department.the released video shows a passenger extending their arm from an open car door and discharging a firearm. Authorities stated the shooting stemmed from a “disturbance” between pedestrians and the occupants of the vehicle.
Multiple pedestrians scattered as shots rang out, police reported. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident, but the investigation is ongoing.

The vehicle involved, described as a silver sedan, was last observed heading south on Red River Street. Police are seeking to identify the individuals involved, describing the driver as a Hispanic woman and the shooter as a Hispanic man with long hair. Detectives have not yet released the make or model of the vehicle.
The Austin Police Department’s Aggravated Assault Unit is currently handling the case as an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon investigation. This type of charge in texas carries a potential sentence of 2 to 20 years in prison,and a fine of up to $10,000.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Police presence has been increased in the area in recent months in response to similar incidents.
