NCAA East Region Championship Marks Season Finale for American International Cross Country
The American International College (AIC) cross country team concluded its season at the NCAA East region Championship, highlighted by All-region honors for Maxwell krapf adn Deven Bernardin. Southern Connecticut State University secured victories in both the men’s and women’s races, completing a sweep of both the NCAA East Region Championship and the Northeast 10 conference Championship.
Krapf led the AIC men’s team with a 17th-place finish out of over 100 competitors, clocking a time of 32:59.53 in his first collegiate 10K race. bernardin followed closely, earning All-Region status with a time of 33:10.5 for 21st overall-his first 10K of the season after previously running a 26:52.5 8K on the same course in October.Mosiah Calderon was the third AIC finisher, placing 58th with a time of 34:54.26, followed by Jack Riegger in 60th, just five seconds behind.
On the women’s side, Maya Suarez led the Panthers with a 31st-place finish in the 6K, posting a time of 23:57.47-two minutes faster than her time at the NE10 Championship and only four seconds off her personal best. Lucia Kutner finished 38th in her final collegiate 6K,with a time of 24:19.86. Caleigh Hopkins and Christina Sakellis rounded out the top four, finishing 47th and 48th respectively; Sakellis earned All-Conference honors the previous week, while Hopkins set a new personal best of 24:44.63.
The AIC cross country team now shifts its focus to the indoor track season,which begins on Friday,December 5,at the Fastrack National Invite.Full results from the NCAA East Region Championship are available via the links provided.
