Asian Players Dominate World Badminton Championships, Securing All Final Spots in paris

PARIS, August 30, 2025 – A clear demonstration of power in the world of badminton unfolded at the TotalEnergies⁢ BWF World ⁢Championships in Paris, as Asian players secured all five‍ final spots, continuing a trend established at the 2021 World Cup in Huelva. While the 2023‍ Copenhagen championships saw European depiction in the finals with carolina Marin and Kim ⁣Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen,Europe has been entirely excluded ‌from contention this year.

Saturday’s semi-finals at the⁣ Parisian Adidas Arena highlighted the widening gap. Danish duo Kim Astrup and ⁢Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, ranked fifth in the world, were decisively defeated by South Korea’s seo Seo seung⁤ Jae and Kim Won Ho, 12:21 ⁢and 3:21 – a match ⁣marked by Korean dominance and unforced errors from the Danish side.

French hopes for a home-court victory were dashed as Tom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue lost to Malaysia’s Cheng Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, 18:21, 16:21, despite a brave performance. The superior⁤ quality of the malaysian pair proved ‍too much to overcome in the crucial stages of the game.

Denmark’s third representative, ranked second in the world, also fell short, losing to reigning world champion Kunlavut ⁤Vitidsarn in two sets, 17:21 and 15:21.This marks the third consecutive bronze medal for the Danish player, following similar results in Huelva 2021 and Copenhagen 2023.

However, the day’s most compelling narrative came from Canada’s Victor Lai, currently ranked 50th globally. Lai came within millimeters of reaching the final, having already secured ⁤a medal with a stunning quarter-final victory over ⁢Loh Kean Yew. He won the first ⁣set against Shi Yuqi (China) convincingly, 21:13, and held two match balls at 20:18 in the second set. A ‍closely contested line call, upheld by challenge, allowed Shi Yuqi to rally and ultimately win the match 13:21,22:20,21:16.

the final pairings confirm the ⁣Asian dominance across all five disciplines. ⁤
