Ariel Lin & Wu Kexi Star in “Blindness” – Behind-the-Scenes of This New Film

Blindness” Ignites the Silver Screen: Ariel Lin and Wu Kexi Deliver Raw Emotion in Groundbreaking Film

Taipei, Taiwan – July 22, 2025 – The highly anticipated film “Blindness,” produced by the acclaimed Ariel Lin and Huang Maochang, and masterfully directed by Zhou Meiyu, officially premiered today, captivating audiences with its profound exploration of perception and inner truth. The star-studded cast, featuring two of Asia’s most celebrated actresses, Ariel Lin and Wu Kexi, promises a cinematic experience that is both visually stunning and emotionally resonant.

Ariel Lin, fresh off her “Asian content Award & Global OTT Award” win at last year’s Busan International Film Festival, and Wu Kexi, recognized with the “Firebird Award” at the Hong Kong Film Festival, share the screen for the first time in “Blindness.” Their powerful collaboration, marked by intense rival scenes, is already generating significant buzz.”I’ve always felt Wu kexi possesses a potent energy and a strong sense of initiative,” shared Ariel Lin. “In my perception, she embodies a handsome, straightforward, and almost chivalrous spirit. Her heroic aura perfectly aligns with her character in the film.”

Wu Kexi reciprocated the praise, highlighting Lin’s professionalism and dedication. “Ariel is incredibly professional, with extensive film and television experience. She prepares meticulously, her emotional delivery is always precise, and her commitment on set is truly inspiring.”

The film’s trailer offers a glimpse into the raw intensity of the performances, including a striking scene where Ariel lin delivers a powerful slap to co-star Liu Jing. Both actresses confirmed the authenticity of the moment. “We didn’t rehearse it beforehand,” explained Lin. “Sometimes, when the emotional distance isn’t quite right and we’re deeply immersed, we can’t help but push a little further.”

liu Jing echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the irreplaceable value of genuine emotion. “The scene is entirely real. That sense of authenticity simply cannot be replicated through staged action. I told Ariel directly: ‘don’t hold back, hit me hard!'” Lin admitted the scene presented a significant psychological challenge, requiring nearly ten takes to perfect.

“Blindness” is an adaptation of the award-winning novel by writer Liu zijie, and marks Ariel Lin’s debut as a producer. The film’s evocative slogan, “Seeing Your Invisible,” encapsulates its central theme.

Lin elaborated on her personal connection to the story: “Although I only read a few pages of the original novel, I was deeply struck by the idea that ‘sometimes, even when we can see, our minds can become numb and blind, deliberately blocking ourselves.’ Conversely, when we close our eyes and truly feel, our minds can become clearer, allowing us to genuinely perceive what is truly important in our hearts.” This profound concept resonated deeply with Lin and director Zhou Meiyu, inspiring them to meticulously expand the concise narrative into a rich and complete cinematic script.

For director Zhou Meiyu, “Blindness” represents her second feature film. Prior to its official release, the movie garnered significant acclaim from international critics and audiences, earning accolades such as a selection for the main competition unit of the golden Tiger Awards at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, special attention at the Osaka Asian Film Festival, and a place in the main competition unit of the Las Palmas International Film Festival in Spain, alongside an honorary Asian mention at the Asian Film Festival in Cambodia.

The film’s triumph continued with its win for Best Picture at the Johnnysburg Film Festival in South Africa, where organizers noted the judges’ unanimous decision with minimal debate. Director Zhou Meiyu expressed her profound gratitude to everyone involved, stating, “Every time I present this film globally, I receive diverse feedback and praise. It’s engaging, and I truly hope ‘Blindness’ continues to move audiences everywhere.”
