Ariana Grande Claims Video of the Year at 2025 MTV VMAs
ELMONT, NY – Ariana grande secured the coveted Video of the Year award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on tuesday, September 16, recognizing her work in “yes, and?” the win marks Grande’s first return to the VMAs since 2020 and solidifies her position as a leading force in music video artistry.
the award, considered the night’s highest honor, acknowledges not only the creative vision of “yes, and?” but also Grande’s broader impact on the music industry. The music video features Grande portraying an elderly woman named Peaches, utilizing prosthetic makeup to explore themes of memory, loss, and reconciliation, with a poignant appearance by her real-life father, Edward Butera. This victory comes as Grande prepares for a highly anticipated return to touring after a seven-year hiatus, with the Eternal Sunshine tour set to launch June 6, 2026.Grande bested a competitive field of nominees including Billie Eilish (“Birds of a Feather”), Kendrick Lamar (“Not Like Us”), Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars (“Die With A Smile”), Rosé and Bruno Mars (“Apt.”), Sabrina Carpenter (“Manchild”), and The Weeknd and Playboi Carti (“Timeless”).
Earlier in the evening, Grande also received the award for Best Pop Artist, delivering a speech thanking “my therapists and gay people, I love you!”
Other notable winners included Sabrina Carpenter for Album of the Year, Lady Gaga for Artist of the Year, and Alex Warren for Best new Artist. LL Cool J hosted the event, held at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
Grande is also slated to reprise her role as Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked: For Good, scheduled for theatrical release on November 21.
