Argentina Claims SCAHC Women’s Youth Handball Championship Title in Thrilling Final
Asunción, Paraguay – November 25, 2025 – The Argentina women’s youth handball team are champions of the 2025 SCAHC Women’s Youth Handball Championship, securing a dramatic 23:22 victory over brazil in a nail-biting final decided by a single goal. The win marks a high point for Argentine youth handball and secures their place on the world stage.
the championship, held in Asunción, Paraguay from November 21st to 25th, featured nine teams competing for top honors and qualification for the 2026 IHF women’s Youth World Championship. Alongside argentina and Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay also earned coveted spots at the World Championship.
The tournament structure saw teams divided into three groups of three,with each group winner and the best second-placed team advancing to the semi-finals. Brazil dominated Group A with decisive wins over Costa Rica (50:11) and Perú (47:16). Argentina mirrored this success in Group B, defeating Venezuela (37:18) and Guatemala (47:16). Uruguay topped Group C after victories against Paraguay (35:34) and Chile (38:26).
Paraguay secured the final semi-final berth as the best second-placed team,boasting a neutral goal difference. The semi-finals proved competitive, with Argentina overcoming Uruguay 32:25 and Brazil staging a second-half comeback to defeat Paraguay 29:27 after trailing 11:14 at halftime.
The final against Brazil was a tense affair.Despite trailing 12:9 at the break, Argentina rallied in the second half, fueled by seven goals from Antonella Quiroz and six from Lou Martina genoud, to clinch the 23:22 victory.
In the bronze medal match,Uruguay defeated Paraguay 26:23,securing their own qualification for the 2026 IHF Women’s Youth World Championship. This will be Paraguay’s first appearance at the competition in a decade, while Uruguay will be making their fourth appearance overall.
Alongside the SCAHC Championship,the event also served as the Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy Women - Youth for the south and central American Confederation.Venezuela emerged victorious in this portion of the competition,defeating Guatemala 27:16 and earning a place in the Intercontinental Phase of the IHF Trophy Women – Youth.
Guatemala’s Leidy Juarez was crowned the competition’s top goal scorer with an impressive 42 goals, followed by Roxangel torrelles of Venezuela (33 goals) and Sochil Cortez of Costa Rica (32 goals).
