Apple’s New Homepad Expected to Launch in Spring‍ 2026, Priced‍ at $350

CUPERTINO, ⁤CA – Apple’s long-rumored smart home ⁣device, dubbed “Homepad,” is projected to launch in‍ spring 2026 with a starting price of $350, according to‍ a report from ⁤Bloomberg. The device, which has been in ‍growth for approximately two years, aims to serve as a multimedia control center for smart ‍home devices and ⁣media, going beyond the capabilities of existing ⁤homepod models.

Apple is reportedly planning two versions of the Homepad: a model codenamed “J490” resembling a ‌HomePod ‌mini with a touchscreen, ‌and ‌a tablet-like version, “J491,” designed⁢ to be mounted anywhere in⁣ the home. While ⁢the report doesn’t specify which⁢ model⁣ will carry ‍the $350 price tag, ⁢sources suggest the J490 ⁤- the speaker-integrated‍ version – will be the entry-level option.

This price point is higher than⁣ the current HomePod Mini ($99 ‍USD / 99⁤ Euro) and‍ the second-generation ‍HomePod ‌($299 USD / 349 Euro), but reflects the Homepad’s expanded functionality.Current HomePod devices primarily focus on audio playback and home hub control, relying heavily on Siri for operation. The Homepad’s⁢ touchscreen is intended to provide an additional control method, addressing limitations with Siri’s performance, especially with third-party streaming services.

the Homepad’s development has faced delays. Originally slated for release in March 2025, the launch was postponed due to delays⁣ in Apple’s overhaul of ⁢siri. The Homepad is designed to leverage the capabilities of ⁤the updated Siri, necessitating the revised ‍timeline. Production⁤ of the device is shifting to⁣ Vietnam, rather than China, according to Bloomberg.
