CUPERTINO, CA – Apple’s long-rumored smart home device, dubbed “Homepad,” is projected to launch in spring 2026 with a starting price of $350, according to a report from Bloomberg. The device,which has been in growth for approximately two years,aims to serve as a multimedia control center for smart home devices and media,going beyond the capabilities of existing homepod models.
Apple is reportedly planning two versions of the Homepad: a model codenamed “J490” resembling a HomePod mini with a touchscreen, and a tablet-like version, “J491,” designed to be mounted anywhere in the home. While the report doesn’t specify which model will carry the $350 price tag, sources suggest the J490 - the speaker-integrated version – will be the entry-level option.
This price point is higher than the current HomePod Mini ($99 USD / 99 Euro) and the second-generation HomePod ($299 USD / 349 Euro), but reflects the Homepad’s expanded functionality.Current HomePod devices primarily focus on audio playback and home hub control, relying heavily on Siri for operation.
