Schmitt proposes itself from…
Schmitt goes forward from the first minute, alerting Papillon, goalkeeper of the Scorpions national team, who remains vigilant. Even more when the Mulhousien find themselves outnumbered. Anglet plays his luck hard and installs his power play, putting Papillon to work. The mail gets mixed up with the game, to the chagrin of the angloys, who seem more inspired and on their feet despite the many hours of bus travel to reach Alsace. Their momentum was shattered when Kazarine, one of their playing mentors, suffered a game misconduct in the 7th minute from being thrown against the backboard. In the process, Gutwald joins the penalty box. In double superiority, Mulhouse did not miss the opportunity to open the scoring with the Welshman (1-0, 7th).
Penalties that hurt
A heavy blow for Pierrick Rezard’s men, who suffered the lightning of the sharp-clawed Scorpions. Well served by Orysiuk and Rychagov, Makarov shoots Robson and doubles for the Alsatians (2-0, 8th). Forced to skate after the score, Anglet tries to react quickly so as not to let the Scorpions escape in this part. Robson is in high demand, but he lets the storm pass and manages to limit the damage. Hormadi was not as successful as the Scorpions on the power play and missed an opportunity to narrow the score late in the first period. He even comes close to correcting when Loizeau takes off before capitulating to Robson (18th). The Basque goalkeeper gave up on Esipov’s shot and things got seriously complicated for Anglet (3-0, 18th).
Pierrick Rezard has certainly recast his troops in the locker room. Known for being catchy, the Basques don’t let go. But they fail to break Mulhouse’s lock and are still on the verge of conceding a new goal. Loizeau does it on this solo number (4-0, 27th). Dominated in large widths, Hormadi finally finds the foul of Polodyan in superiority (4-1, 29th). Not enough to hope for a “remontada”. Especially since Anglet is still penalized in this middle third. The Scorpions still sting with their captain Rychagov (5-1, 33rd).
