Angelina Jolie has officially sold her sprawling Los Angeles estate for $24.75 million, months after listing the historic compound and stating her intention to leave the United States permanently once her youngest children reached adulthood. The 51-year-old actress purchased the property for $24.5 million in 2017, following her split from Brad Pitt, and used it as her primary family residence.
The Sale of the Historic Cecil B. DeMille Estate
The six-bedroom, 10-bathroom compound sits on nearly two acres of land and carries deep Hollywood roots. Originally built in 1913 by architect B. Cooper Corbett, the property was acquired by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille in 1916. DeMille later expanded the footprint in 1920 by purchasing a neighboring home owned by Charlie Chaplin, connecting the two residences with a glass corridor.
The estate was listed on May 4 with Jon Grauman of Resident Group and Ernie Carswell of Sotheby’s International Realty. While the initial listing price stood at $29.9 million, public property records confirmed the final transaction closed at $24.75 million.
Relocation Plans and Post-Divorce Timeline
The sale marks a tangible step toward Jolie’s stated goal of relocating abroad. In an August 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie explained that terms of her divorce settlement with Pitt required her to remain based in California until all six of their children reached the age of 18.
That milestone arrived in July, when twins Knox and Vivienne celebrated their 18th birthdays. With her children legally adults, Jolie outlined her plans to split time internationally.
“I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” Jolie stated in the 2025 interview. She added that she intended to spend significant time in Cambodia and visit family members around the globe.
Closing a Chapter in Los Angeles Real Estate
The transaction concludes nearly a decade of ownership for Jolie at the DeMille compound, which served as a private sanctuary for her family during a heavily publicized transition period. With the property now sold and her family obligations under the California custody agreement fulfilled, the path is cleared for her international move.
