Tipp City, Ohio – Caleb Flynn, a 39-year-old former contestant on “American Idol,” has been charged with the murder of his wife, 37-year-old Ashley Flynn, according to court documents filed in Miami County Municipal Court.
Police responded to the couple’s residence on Cunningham Court around 2:30 a.m. On February 16th following a report of a burglary and a shooting, according to a statement from the Tipp City Police Department. Upon arrival, officers encountered Flynn and two children. Ashley Flynn was found deceased inside the home.
Flynn now faces charges of murder, along with two counts of felonious assault and two counts of tampering with evidence, court records show. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, according to reporting from CBS News.
Investigators allege that the crime scene had been intentionally altered. Court documents state, “Officers were led astray by the staging of the crime scene,” suggesting a deliberate attempt to mislead authorities. The specific details of the alleged staging have not been publicly released.
During his 2013 appearance on “American Idol,” Flynn spoke of his affection for his wife in a hometown interview segment, as reported by FOX News. “I absolutely love the Lord. I love my wife more than anything. She is very, very pretty…I love her,” he said at the time. “But, you realize, I’m just a normal person who absolutely loves to sing more than anything in the world.”
Ashley Flynn’s obituary describes her as a dedicated volunteer at her church and a beloved member of the community. She served as a substitute teacher and coached the 7th-grade volleyball team, according to the obituary.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding Ashley Flynn’s death. No further court dates have been announced as of Friday, February 20, 2026.
