Amazon VP of Global Video Advertising Krishan Bhatia Steps Down
NEW YORK – September 7, 2024 – krishan Bhatia, Vice President of Global Video Advertising & Partnerships at Amazon Ads, is leaving the company, according to a farewell note obtained by Adweek.Bhatia’s departure comes after a year of significant expansion for Amazon’s video advertising business, including the introduction of new shoppable ad formats and growth in live sports advertising.
Bhatia joined Amazon in 2024 after nearly two decades at NBCUniversal (NBCU), where he most recently served as President and Chief Business Officer, Global Advertising and Partnerships. He was promoted to that role in 2021 by then-NBCU ads chief Linda Yaccarino. Prior to NBCU, Bhatia had been with Comcast since 2005, joining NBCU after Comcast’s acquisition of the media company in 2011.
During his tenure at Amazon, Bhatia spearheaded the global expansion of Prime Video Ads into 15 countries, including recent launches in the Netherlands and New Zealand. he oversaw the company’s upfronts, both in the US and internationally, and built a Brand Partnerships capability to align marketers with Amazon’s global intellectual property. Amazon also expanded its “Shop the Show” format across more Prime Video content and scaled up its live sports advertising offerings, with the NBA contributing to incremental volume growth.In May 2024, Amazon introduced new shoppable ad formats, demonstrating early success with clients like Duracell. the company also relaunched its Local Advertising business with a partner-first approach and focused on strengthening its Amazon DSP as a solution for advertisers.
In his farewell note, Bhatia expressed pride in the team he built and the accomplishments achieved. “It has been a privilege to create and lead the Global Video Advertising & Partnerships institution, and I am incredibly proud of the industry-leading team that is now in place and will continue to build the business,” he wrote.He also thanked Amazon leadership, including Paul, Alan, the Amazon Ads leadership team, Mike Hopkins, and leaders across Prime Video & MGM Studios.
