Alison Hammond updates fans from hospital after leaving This Morning
This Morning presenter Alison Hammond left a live broadcast on Friday after feeling unwell and subsequently updated fans from a hospital bed. The 51-year-old broadcaster departed the ITV set midway through the episode following an appearance alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary.
Sudden Departure During Live Broadcast
The programme began with Hammond and O’Leary at the helm, but she left the set during a segment featuring TV vet Dr Scott Miller. When the show returned from an advertising break, O’Leary addressed viewers about her absence, stating: Welcome back to This Morning, Alison is feeling a little unwell, so she’s just had to duck out. Hopefully she’ll be back.
Prior to her departure, Hammond had been seen on the edge of the frame suddenly clutching her chest before being hurried away from the sofa by O’Leary, while Dr Scott looked worried trying to continue the segment as a loud retch was heard in the background.
Later in the programme, O’Leary confirmed that Hammond would not be returning to the studio, telling viewers: Ali’s feeling a little unwell so I’ll be here for the rest of the show.
Ambulances were seen outside the ITV studios, and a source stated that Hammond was able to walk into the vehicle before being taken to hospital.
Hammond Gets Heart Evaluated After Broadcast Symptoms
She explained that she was having her heart evaluated after experiencing symptoms during the broadcast.

Hello, my lovelies. I know you’re all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine, first of all, but I’m getting my old ticker checked out. I had a little bit of a palpitation, and now I’m getting it all checked out. But I think I’m OK. I’m hoping it was just a little panic attack or something like that.
Hammond expressed regret over leaving the broadcast, noting that she would never normally leave a TV show unless she was genuinely unwell. She praised the medical staff, describing them as so lovely,
and joked in the video’s caption: Anything to have a day off.
Viewers had previously taken to social media and X to share worried messages and best wishes, hoping she was okay and that it was nothing more serious.
