(Rogers) Sparks, an 82-year-old resident of Erwin, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family following a brief illness, according to ledfordfuneralhomes.com. Born in Jefferson City, Tennessee, she spent the majority of her life living in Erwin.
Life in Erwin and Family Legacy
Alice Sparks was a daughter of the late Charlie and Carrie Story Rogers and belonged to the Baptist Faith. Throughout her life, she focused heavily on her family, dedicating much of her time to caring for her grandchildren. Beyond her family responsibilities, she maintained a traditional household, enjoying cooking, canning, and growing a vegetable garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of forty-four years, Edward “Ed” Sparks, who passed away on October 28, 2013. Two brothers, Roland and Joe Rogers, also preceded her in death.
She Leaves Behind Sons, Grandchildren and Siblings
She leaves behind a large extended family. Her survivors include two sons, Monty Todd Rogers, with wife Vikki, and Steven Sparks, with wife Tanya, all residing in Erwin. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Nikki Newbauer, married to Matt; Amanda Gama, married to Julio; Kaitlyn Holloway, married to Lydon; Olivia Rogers; Matthew Rogers; Seth Sparks; and Abigail Sparks. She also leaves three great-grandchildren: Amaya Newbauer, Emberlee Holloway, and Ezra Holloway.
Her surviving siblings include four sisters—Carolyn Tipton, Marlene Tolley, Wanda McMullen, and Margaret Stockton—and two brothers, Randy Rogers and Russell Rogers, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will attend a private graveside service at the Evergreen Cemetery. There, Alice Sparks will be laid to rest directly beside her late husband, Ed Sparks.
