Wilma Getz Grimm passes away at 92 in Harrisonburg
Wilma Getz Grimm, who lived to age 92, passed away on October 2, 2026, at Sunnyside Retirement Community, as reported by Rocktown Now on Legacy.com. Born in September 1934, she spent her life in Virginia’s Rockingham County region, dividing her years between Linville and Harrisonburg while maintaining deep ties to local agricultural and church communities.
A Life Rooted in Rockingham County
Daughter of the late George Ira Sr. and Anna Frances May Getz, Grimm grew up in a large family that predeceased her. Her husband of 58 years, Otho David Grimm, passed away before her, alongside her brothers Garnet, Everett, and George Jr., and her sisters Wilda Ritchie and Catherine Lemons. During her life, she was a dedicated member of the Linville United Methodist Church and the Rockingham Luncheon Ruritan Club.
Her daily life centered around family and community involvement. She spent her time tending to her flower garden, traveling to visit her grandchildren, and hosting holidays on the family farm.
Family Survivors and Descendants
Grimm is survived by four children: David Grimm and his wife Debbie, residing in Staunton; Diana Grimm of Morgantown, West Virginia; Pamela Grimm and her partner Edward Sandy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Amy Popp and her husband Brian of Virginia Beach.
Her family lineage continues through five grandchildren—Tracey Grimm, who is married to Rodrigo; Jake Bajada and his wife Amelia; Rachel Ray and her husband Matthew; Rebecca Popp; and Ryan Popp. She also leaves behind a great-grandson, Teddy Bajada, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service Scheduled for October 7
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Keith Getz will officiate the service. Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg is handling local arrangements.
There will be no formal visitation. However, friends and family may sign the register book from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, where the casket will remain closed. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to Shineforth, formerly known as UMFS, located at 3900 West Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia.
