Alaska Airlines will begin daily non-stop service between St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) and Portland International Airport (PDX) on May 13, 2026, a move that expands the airline’s presence in the Pacific Northwest.
The modern route, announced October 25, 2025, will operate through October 2, 2026, utilizing a 737-9 Max aircraft. This builds on existing Alaska Airlines service from St. Louis, which includes non-stop flights to Seattle, Washington, and seasonal service to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico between January and April.
The decision to add Portland as a destination comes as Lambert Airport experiences growth in passenger numbers, exceeding 2019 levels despite population loss within the city of St. Louis. Alaska Airlines has operated at STL since 2013.
Alaska Airlines too plans to begin service to Europe in spring 2026. The airline is a member of the oneworld alliance, and Hawaiian Airlines is scheduled to join oneworld in spring 2026 as well.
According to punctuality data from November 13, 2025, to February 12, 2026, Alaska Airlines flights from St. Louis have an on-time performance of 83%, with 117 of 141 flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time. The airline experienced 13 moderate delays, 7 significant delays, and 4 major delays during that period, with no flights canceled or diverted. The average delay was 9 minutes.
Alaska Airlines serves only two international destinations from St. Louis: Mexico and the United States.
Lufthansa currently provides year-round service from St. Louis to Frankfurt, and British Airways will begin service to London in April.
