Alabama Women’s Basketball: Ace Austin Earns SEC Freshman of the Week Award

BIRMINGHAM,Ala. –Alabama women’s ‍basketball freshman Ace Austin ⁤has been recognized‍ as a Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The⁤ honor marks⁢ the first of Austin’s collegiate ⁤career.

Austin, a native of spring garden, Alabama, earned ⁢the⁣ accolade following a standout week that included​ a career-high scoring performance. She delivered 21​ points off the bench in the Crimson Tide’s 84-45 victory⁤ over Samford on November⁤ 19, adding a team-best five assists in ‍30 minutes of play. This recognition highlights Austin’s growing ⁤impact on the Alabama program‌ and signals a strong start to her freshman⁢ season.

The freshman guard has quickly become a key contributor ‍for the Crimson‌ Tide, recording her third double-figure scoring game of the year with 17 points against Harvard in the ‌Pink Flamingo Championship. austin is the first ⁣Alabama ‍freshman to achieve consecutive ‍double-digit scoring games as ‍Essence Cody during the ⁣2023-24 season.

Currently,Austin averages 13.8 points per game, ⁣ranking⁣ third‌ highest on the ‍team.
